Christmas past

A Victorian Christmas experience for KS1 and 2

Step back in time to help with the Christmas preparations for Mr and Mrs Franklin-Ward, the owners of Ward Brothers, Hat Makers of distinction.

Mrs Franklin-Ward is too busy with her charity work to 'dress' the house for Christmas, so she has enlisted the help of the children at her husband's Hat Factory.

The children will meet Mrs Franklin-Ward and Mrs Hardcastle who is a Trimmer at the Factory. They will tell the children what they must do to help prepare for the Ward's Christmas.

The Children will:-
- make decorations for the tree and Hatters Cottage
- help to make the Christmas pudding and learn the meaning of traditional pudding charms
- play with Victorian toys and make one to keep.

The day ends with a Christmas carol around the tree

We offer plenty of role-play and hands on activities, which are fun and interactive, highlighting the differences between a rich and poor Victorian Christmas.
